Julio Chafer and Jaime Rodríguez Barrosois are currently the only national Baptist pastors in Extremadura. Julio Chafer previously pastored in Murcia on the east coast of Spain and has been serving in Badajoz since 1999. Jaime Rodríguez Barroso is the bivocational pastor of the Villafranca de los Barros Baptist Church. The believers in Villafranca had been an independent congregation for many years. In Sept 2002, the Villafranca church  joined the Spanish Baptist Union under Jaime's leadership and with Julio Cháfer's encouragement.
